Homeowners who have commenced or ordered a window and or door upgrade since the government announcement on the 27th of January 2026 will be eligible to apply for grant support where they meet the scheme requirements and use registered contractors.

The SEAI Window and Door Grant is part of Ireland’s national drive to improve home energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. If your home has older, draughty, or inefficient windows and doors, this grant can significantly reduce the cost of upgrading to modern, energy‑efficient alternatives
Eligible homeowners can receive up to €4,000 toward energy‑efficient window upgrades and up to €800 per energy‑efficient door (maximum of two doors).
To qualify, the home must:
- Be built and occupied before 2011
- Have adequate attic and wall insulation
- Replace existing windows with high‑performing units (1.4 W/m²K or better)
- Replace inefficient external doors
Grant payment criteria
A post‑works BER is required after new windows and doors are installed, and this is grant‑aided.
New windows and doors meet the required U‑values. ( 1.4 W/m2K, or better).
The property must meet a Heat Loss Indicator (HLI) value of 2.3 W ⁄ K·m2or better OR the attic and walls are noted as “Good” or “Very Good”.
